In short: Twisted Pair does not collect, store, or share any personal data. It reads your Mac’s network status locally and shows it in the menu bar.

What we collect

Twisted Pair does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Costa Technologies, LLC receives nothing from the app. There are no accounts, analytics, advertising, or crash reporting.

Your network information

To show your connection, Twisted Pair reads your Mac’s network status: which Ethernet adapters are present, whether a cable is connected, the link speed, and your IP address, subnet mask, and router. This is read on your Mac and is shown only to you. It is never sent anywhere. If you choose Copy IP Address or Copy Network Details, that information is placed on your clipboard for you to paste.

Network connections

To check whether the internet is reachable, Twisted Pair opens a secure (TLS) connection to www.apple.com over your Ethernet adapter, then closes it. It sends no information about you in this check; it only learns whether the connection succeeded. Like any internet connection, it reveals your public IP address to Apple’s servers. Twisted Pair makes no other network connections.

Settings stored on your Mac

Your settings (the Ethernet adapter you chose and how often the internet is checked) are saved on your Mac only. Launch at login is managed by macOS.

Third parties

Twisted Pair contains no third-party code, analytics, advertising, or tracking, and shares nothing with any third party.

Your control and deleting data

You can quit Twisted Pair at any time from its menu. Deleting the app removes it; because nothing is sent to us, there is no data on our side to delete.

Children

Twisted Pair collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
